Planning a Simple Christmas

Do you plan ahead for the holidays, or do they sneak up on you every year? Staying on top of things and keeping good notes can really simplify your holidays and help you relax and enjoy the spirit of the season. Now is the perfect time to cut back, to simplify your commitments and your schedule. By finding ways to create space in your life, you can create a happier, more joyful holiday as well.

The first step to a simpler Christmas is Planning. I recommend creating a holiday notebook, or if you already have a household management notebook, create a special holiday section in it. This notebook will be your go-to place for organizing all things holiday, and it will help ensure you don’t lose important papers and can find the information that you need quickly and easily.

Some items to incorporate in your holiday notebook include:

  • Holiday recipes
  • Gift lists
  • Reminders of where you hid all those gifts
  • To-do list
  • Addresses for Christmas cards
  • Directions to holiday parties
  • Decorations and DIY projects
  • Craft ideasSimply Christmas by Sandy Kreps
  • Calendar of holiday events, parties and deadlines
  • Black Friday shopping list

This week, put together your holiday notebook and start pulling together your favorite holiday recipes, your gift lists, and any other notes you want to keep track of for the holidays.
